Should that be a criterion in deciding what smart-phone you should be buying into? Well, the choice to do rests on many factors, but we won’t be discussing those now.

The level of threat on both

Statistics and reliable data have revealed that when it comes to the number of threats on each platform, iOS users have the better side of the bargain, as it seems to be that Android’s open approach has led them to be more vulnerable than iOS. Also, because Apple has a stringent procedure in place for the kinds of apps that can be used on their platform and this has allowed them to keep their platform more secure.

However, this cannot be etched in stone, as it could take a perfectly created iOS malware to do as much damage as a hundred Android threats.

Software updates being secure

Many devices could also be saved from any kind of malware threats if handset users ensured that their software was upgraded to the latest version of Android or iOS. It is this fragmentation that plays into the hands of malware operators so it’s important to keep all your devices up-to-date.

Apple, however, does not face a similar problem because their software updates are in your face as their events and launches and this filters down quite quickly to users alike. iOS prompt mass upgrades and if there is a significant security scare, then that communication trickles down quite quickly to the user.

Integrating hardware

The security of an Android platform is usually dependent on the hardware it is running on. There are some manufacturers out there who work and are working on making sure that Android’s security features are up-to-date and provide a more secure booting process thereby ensuring that unauthorized software isn’t loaded when the smartphone is switched on.

All in all, there is a significant amount of debate going around about whether Android is a more secure platform or iOS, but this debate can’t be restricted to just facts alone and needs a more definitive conclusion to the debate along with an informed choice that the customer makes, while buying into certain aspects of a smartphone.

Both these platforms have seen an exponential amount of growth with absolutely no signs of slowing down in the least, however, when it comes to security, do you really know how secure a platform you are investing in?
